Udaipur- The city of Lakes

Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is a city, a Municipal Corporation and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is located 403 kilometers (250 mi) southwest of the state capital, Jaipur, 248 km (154 mi) west of Kota, and 250 km (155 mi) northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. 

The Guhil (Sisodia) clan ruled the Mewaa and its capital was shifted from Chittorgarh to Udaipur after founding city of Udaipur by Maharana Uday Singh. The Mewar province became part of Rajasthan after India became independent.

Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the "Venice of the East", and is also nicknamed the "Lake City". Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are considered some of the most beautiful lakes in the state.

Udaipur is a popular tourist destination in India. The lakes, palaces and lively workspaces and culture attract foreign and domestic visitors. It is a favourite marriage destination. Many celebrities, including film stars, business families, politicians chose Udaipur to hold marriage ceremonies and parties.

The city lies on the Golden Quadrilateral National Highway (NH) 8, midway between Delhi and Mumbai, located around 700 kilometres from either city. The East West Corridor which starts from Porbandar and ends at Silchar passes and is intersecting the Golden Quadrilateral and shares the common space from Udaipur to Chittor. The roads in this part of the country are paved and fit for private vehicles. One can either drive from Jaipur (around 6 hours via Chittorgarh), from Kota (3 hours - four-lane highway), from Ahmedabad (4.1/2 hours) or Surat (9 hours).

Our Journey

Eagle travels commenced its corporate journey under the leadership of Late Sh Rasiklal Damjibhai Bavaria(Golwala) in the year 1978.  Our founder chairman was a man of vision & possessed exemplary quality who always thought beyond the horizons. He believed in being focused & sharp like an Eagle, which is the king of the birds & is known for its agility & precision. "It was his passion to serve people & help them with better facilities while travelling"., He introduced “Comfort” to the travel industry. This attitude of his made his develop buses with entertainment facility way back in the year 1980 when television was also not introduced.

Previous to our launch of bus services between Rajkot & Mumbai in the year 1978, Eagle travels was known as ‘Saurashtra tourist corporation’ & used to lease bus for corporate affairs & wedding functions. What began with a fleet of 2 buses having its services in just 2 cities with one departure in a day has today reached a fleet size of over 200 buses covering over 30 cities in 6 states of India with over 75 departures in a day.

Eagle Corporation diversified to new businesses in the year 1995, Eagle entered into retailing of petroleum products, C&F agents for various FMCG companies like Amul, Adani Wilmar , Havmor, Pepsi among others. Eagle also took up automobile dealerships for Kinectic Honda,Ford cars, Vespa,Suzuki & Ashok Leyland along with starting Parcel services to all destinations covered by Eagle travels network.

Our founder chairman was a noble man who believed in giving back to the society whole heartly, He was Counsellor of Rajkot Municipal Corporation for several years along with being Trustee in several temples & organisations. He used to allow free travel for patients & sick people & used to pay school fees for underprivileged children. He even used to manufacture medicines for ‘Diabetics’ & used to distribute it free for cost.

The vision & mission of our founder chairman is now being taken ahead by his able son Mr Jayendra Rasikbhai Bavaria, who has been able to add several feather to Eagle’s wings. Our Current chairman Sh Jayendra Rasikbhai Bavaria has the same passion as his father, He was actively involved in this business since he was almost 16 years old, He used to undertake long overnight journey to Udaipur  for monitoring coach building operation sometimes this journey was carried out standing. His passion towards his work is so high that he never realized he is taking such pains. Mr Bavaria is always keen on bringing new technology in the business, He was instrumental in being the 1^st travel operator in Gujarat & western region to bring Volvo, Mercedes Single & Multi axles buses. 

He understood the importance of serving customer better by introducing bottled water free of charge to each passenger. He brought WIFI in buses to keep the customer connected during their travel. It is under Mr Bavaria’s leadership that  Eagle Travels became the first travel operator in the country to introduce computerized tickets & also set up a dedicated call centre for ticket booking. He believes in being technologically advanced, this approach made him the 1^st travel operator to link all their booking offices.

Mr Bavaria is also the President of Gujarat Tourist vehicle federation & represents the private bus operators industry to various government bodies & agencies. He is a customer service oriented man, who personally oversees that customer satisfaction has to be achieved at any point of time.

 He is now being assisted by his children Mr Darshan Bavaria. CLUB ONE Eagle’s new initiative in super luxury travel is the brain child of Mr Darshan Bavaria.

We know that the penetration of credit card in India is around 2 % & internet banking is also slowly growing so for all our customers who want to book tickets with us online & do not have a credit card/internet banking to pay can avail of  PAY LATER facility. Where by a passenger has a confirmed booking & has to pick up the ticket one hour before departure by paying at our office.

For passengers travelling long distance with us like to Delhi, Banglore we provide them with a blanket during the journey.

Our Volvo B9R bus & B7R bus have charging point in all seat sections so that our passengers do not have to face drained out battery of mobile, laptop ,ipod etc...

Our bus in the Jamnagar- Rajkot- Ahmedabad have WIFI facilities allowing our passengers to surf internet while on the move & not miss their important work & pleasure.

We provide a bottle of water to all our passengers along with entertainment in form of either personal LCD screen in case of AC sleeper & Volvo sleeper buses & 2 LCD screens in Volvo/Mercedes seating & multi axle buses.

We also have Eagle privilege card for all our regular patrons, We provide a 10 % discount on each booking starting from the time they issue the card with us. The privilege card comes with a small registration fees of Rs 200 & is valid for one year.

Our latest offering CLUB ONE comes with 140 degree recliner seats each seat has its own entertainment system with a 14" inch tv screen equipped with LIVE TV & 5000 of entertainment programmes to choose from. We serve gourmet food to all our passengers along with coffee. The bus is equipped with state of the art flush toilets. Our bus also has Bus Hostess to serve our passengers with food & drinks.

 According to TIME magazine 550 Million people travel in a year in India & 61 % of this travel use bus as their mode of travel. Bus as a medium carries over 355 crore people in a year. Pioneers

It has been 10 years since companies like Volvo have started their operation in India. Volvo is the largest fleet supplier in super Luxury bus segment not only in India but also across the world. It is the Market leader in Bus travel industry with a 74% market share in India. 10 years ago Volvo decided to focus on the rising south Asian market and launched its operations  in India.  Volvo is offering new technologically advanced products in the country both for intercity & intra city travel.

Volvo started with B7R buses in India followed it up with B9R They sold around 5000 buses in the 11 years of its journey in India, that’s   450 buses in one year or we can say approx. 1 bus/day for a bus which is 5 times the cost of other luxury buses available in India during that time is no mean feat. The reason why Volvo was able to make inroads in the market is because of the fact that it has a “True Bus Chassis” instead of the chassis being adopted to make a bus a practice which was a norm in India.  A True Bus Chassis offered better quality, safer product with features like Rear mounted engine, wider Luggage space, electronic air suspension for jerk free travel, Hydraulic Retarder with disc braking, higher passenger carrying capacity. Low Noise & better air conditioning ensured a fatigue less travel.  Better braking, fuel efficient design ensures a faster & shorter journey. Volvo buses which run for longer duration without break down & 10 % more passenger carrying capacity were not able to find many takers initially.

It was not an easy road for the company to set up its foothold in a country which is so value conscious, Volvo was finding it difficult to convince bus operators that there are no repair shops in India. Mr Jayendra  R Bavaria, Chairman & Managing Director of Eagle Travels with his dynamic personality  & visionary outlook  took the decision to be the first volvo service operator in his region. He beliefs his first commitment is to provide “Comfort” to the travel .Eagle travels are pioneers in providing the word "comfort" to the travel world over the last 33 years and will continue to offer optimum service levels at affordable prices consistently... He understood the importance of the product being offered and took the decision, Since that day there has been no looking back. It has been 10 years now of Eagle's association with Volvo. Launch of B9R multiple axles have ensured start of non-stop travel services between Rajkot, Jamnagar & Ahmedabad.

Women Safety

The recent shocking & ghastly incident which took place in New Delhi a few days ago has left the entire country of India in a state of shock, discomfort & trauma.

There is an awakening which has happened in the entire nation, the youth of the country who today comprise of the 60% of the population of India are out in support of the deceased and are demanding justice from the Indian Government .There is a strong agitation going on to make changes in the laws .

As they say ‘Charity starts at home’ we should not sit quiet and wait for others to take actions, we need to do our bit of contribution.  We at Eagle Travels over the last 32 years have followed a policy ensuring Women’s safety and comfort while travelling alone with us. Eagle Travels never allocates a seat next to a alone women traveler to a male passengers in spite of the fact that the bus is running full and there is huge demand for the seat. We forgo profits in order to maintain Safety and comfort for women passengers travelling alone. We allocate co passengers seat only to a lady. In case we are not able to find another lady, the adjacent seat remains vacant. With a fleet size of around 200 super luxury, luxury  buses like Volvo,  Mercedes Benz, ISUZU in Sleeper, Semi Sleeper and Seating category We have  75 departures to 15 destinations across Western and Northern India.
